Where is Gran?
It doesn’t get any “weirder” than this photograph of my Gran. We found it yesterday in storage. Seems to Dad and I that it was taken a few years ago, judging by Gran’s clothing and appearance. We can’t figure where Gran is when the photograph was taken. Seeing that United States flag seems to say Gran was in the states. But she wasn’t. She did not travel to the states. (Especially over the last five years - Gran was ill off and on and liked to be near to home.) Mum guessed a diplomats home or an embassy. I just find it terribly odd.

That looks like the President’s Flag to me at first sight…

it kind of looks edited
is it digital?
that does look like the president’s flag…

I say it is definitely the U.S. Presidential flag. I’ve posted it on the Gran thread. Check it out. WTF? Why would Gran be in some place with the Presidential Flag? Do Presidents have offices around the world?

Hello Clarazzle! Welcome to whatweird. Gran’s photograph isn’t edited (as far as I know) Unless it was edited before she printed it? I did import it and put it out as a jpg. and resized it for my blog. As far as I know Gran didn’t have a digital camera. She had an old Yashika or Yamika.. something like that. I’ll ask my Dad later.

It looks to me like maybe she was in a courtroom. Maybe sitting in the judge’s seat? I’ve been into the local courtroom’s and they look exactly like this, usually having the American flag and then the state flag.

The arm looks edited on, if you look close enough, you’ll se it isn’t her arm. But the flags look like the presidents flags.

Welcome Jessica!
I’m not sure what you see, but that is my Gran’s arm. Perhaps it looks odd because she’s got a scarf wrapped around to dress up her old raincoat. My Mum gave her that scarf. And welcome to you as well, Charlye. I agree, Charlye. Looks to be some sort of official room.

heya!
oh, i bet it’s the scarf. i dunno.
it does look like some kind of government office or something.
Suzie, what would your gran be doing in a government office?

Hello again Clarazzle! No idea about Gran and why she would be in such a place. I will say Gran looks very, very please with herself. I showed my friend Sharon the photograph and she said she thinks Gran being in this place might have something to do with the secret “Duncans”. Sharon thinks Gran was a spy!
:)
I had a laugh on that! I don’t believe a spy would take such a gleeful photograph while “on assignment”. Tee hee!

It looks to be the Oval Office, where the President of the United States works. Did your grandmother go on a tour there? Maybe they let her sit in the president’s chair.

Hi Suze. This is my first time posting here. Your site is great! I was looking at this pic of your Gran. It’s not the oval office as mentioned before. I checked out a bunch of pics of the oval office on-line and the desk and the curtains are different. I know this really doesn’t help but it for sure is a government office of some kind. Is it possible she was at the embassy?
November 29th, 2007 at 1:25 pm
Welcome Lala3434! Thank you for researching the oval office. Do you think it could be the oval office from another time? My Mum said the curtains look like something from the 60’s. As for the embassy question.. it is possible. To be honest, I can’t imagine what Gran would be doing at any government type office. I’m going to check around online for anything I can find about the American Embassy here in London.

Hey Suzie, me again, sorry if I seemed a bit rude last time. But just to clear things up, i meant that if you look quite hard, it looks it an edit line, but I’m probably either seeing things or going insane, knowing me!
It definatly looks like some sort of office like the Presidents, but I’m not very familiar with that kind of things..

Hello again Jessica! You didn’t seem rude at all - just curious and helpful. We’re all attempting to makes sense of these strange photos. I’m hoping to give this some more time over my weekend. If you have any more thoughts, please share them. Hope you have a fun Friday night!

Hi Suzie! I’m not sure what it means, but that is definitely a fake presidential flag. The colors, shapes, sizes, and proportions are all wrong. There’s no detail and it has a fabric trim instead of a fringe. It reminds me of when I had my picture taken on a fake Star Trek set. Could the picture have been taken at a museum or festival?

Sorry it took so long to get back to you Suze. What I noticed was that the oval office has shears and gold drapes, not beige. It’s been that way for a number of years; as far as I can tell anyway.

I’m supporting this idea all the way! I can not imagine who would disagree with it. On the whole - make posts like this more often.

It’s funny how people believe everything that is written in Internet. But it’s their own business, I don’t care about them. My opinion is that it’s such a bullshit!
