The Hills

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

Have you ever heard of Betty and Barney Hill? This story is classic! I found this intro to the Hills and their adventure here.

Late on the night of 19th September, 1961, 41 year old child welfare worker Betty Hill and her 39 year old husband Barney were travelling home after a pleasant vacation in Southern Canada. They were travelling along Interstate Route 3, which cuts through the White Mountain of New Hampshire on the long journey home to New England. For quite a while the Hills had been puzzled by the ‘white star’ that had seemed to be tailing them. Barney, being sceptical by nature, thought it may be a plane heading towards Montreal. Traffic was very scare on the highway, and the couple decided to stop to allow their dog, Delsey, to have some exercise.

It was now close to midnight and , as Betty walked the dog off the side of the road, Barney used binoculars to study the strange light more carefully.

After a few minutes further into their journey, Barney felt the sudden urge to stop and leave the car. They were near an isolated spot called Indian Head, and ignoring Betty’s cries to return to the car, Barney walked deeper into the roadside tree cover, staring ahead at the white light in the sky. It became apparent to Barney that the strange light was a UFO.

It had a shape described by both witnesses as like a pancake or a banana, and Barney was sure he could see figures standing against a large picture window in front of the spacecraft. Barney lowered the binoculars from his eyes and shouted ‘I don’t believe this!’, then muttered something about a military helicopter playing tricks on them, then screamed out loud ‘They’re going to capture us!’ with that, he fled back to the car. The couple then sped off southwards to begin the drive down from the mountains. Further down the road, the Hills heard a strange ‘beeping’, a sound which, years later the Hills would describe as similar to a microwave oven. A second ‘beeping’ noise followed by a bump, and then everything returned back to normal.

The morning after they arrived home, the Hills noticed some problems with their car. The vehicle had strange blotches where the paint had been removed, revealing bare metal. Betty’s sister suggested that they should see if the spots were magnetized. She asked this because she also had experienced a UFO before, and had read that UFOs could stall car engines. Using a hand-held compass, they discovered that the compass needle swung wildly over the blotched areas of the car, suggesting that these spots, were indeed magnetized.

Distressed, the couple decided to ring the nearby Pease Air Force Base to report their experience with the UFO. They were told nothing at the time, but documents researched 20 years later report of a similar UFO being reported at the base on September 20th at 2.15 a.m. in the morning.

The Hills also decided to report their encounter to a national UFO group. UFOlogist and astronomer Walter Webb visited the Hills on 21st of October, and set in motion what was to become one of the most remarkable investigations in UFO history.

Barney was worried, because he could not explain the scuff marks on his shoes, as if he had been dragged roughly along the ground, and he was also suffering from an extremely painful back. On 30th September, Betty began to have a series of recurring nightmares that lasted for several nights. In them she would see horrible faces with cat-like eyes that belonged to creatures intent on kidnapping her and her husband. One fact that emerged during Walter Webbs investigation was that, during the Hills journey, they could not account for two hours of time, or 55km of their route. By Spring 1962, the Hills problems were still evident and they were regularly seeking medical advice to relieve them of their mental torment.

Finally they were referred to psychiatrist Dr. Benjamin Simon in Boston. He recommended them to undergo regression as a way to free their subconscious minds of whatever was causing the problems. From the start, the emotional impact of that September night was obvious. Although both Betty and Barney were regressed separately, a number of images surfaced from their subconscious minds that were remarkably similar. The Hills’ response under hypnosis undoubtedly shook Dr Simon. On several occasions staff had to help him restrain Barney while he relived the events of that night and fought to escape the aliens that he visualised.

According to the evidence retrieved through these sessions, the UFO had landed beside the road, and rendered the Hills’ semi-conscious. The couple were then taken against their will aboard the craft by small beings with whitish skin and large cat-like eyes (similar to greys). Once on board, the couple were separated and both given medical examinations. Barney had semen extracted by a suction device, while Betty had to endure a large needle being stuck into her abdomen. Other samples such as nail and hair clippings were also taken. The aliens also appeared fascinated by the differences between the couple. Barney, who was Ethiopian by birth, had dark skin.

After the tests, Betty was shown around the UFO where she attempted to persuade what seemed to be the group’s leader to allow her to take away a book as proof of their adventure, but this was denied.

One thing that sceptics cannot explain is, Betty could draw a detailed sketch of the star system Zeta Reticuli which is in the Reticulum constellation, 6 years before astronomers even discovered it?

This case has become a landmark case in UFO folklore. The importance of the Hills’ abduction experience cannot be overemphasized. It changed the world of UFOlogy forever.

“…Fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man”

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

When I can’t sleep I like to sit in bed and dream up all the sorts of things that could be going on in the “fifth” dimension. The other night I started to think about this… and what if the fifth dimension is exactly like our world, but it is a place where we make only “good” decisions. Not to say we only make “bad” decisions here, but what if there were a dimension parallel to ours that contains all the “what ifs”. That would be more than cool and honestly I would like to live there. I make a ton of “bad” decisions all the time. Like last night I had a huge row with my Mum. She’s not too pleased with me today. You guys know about the piggy bank my Gran left me. Well, I decided I shouldn’t be frightened about it and asked my Dad to get it from storage. My Mum told him not to bring it home because she’s afraid I will lose sleep again. I want it back. Not really sure what I will do now, but I really feel like I made the wrong decision about the girl jumping rope piggy. I’m sure in the 5th dimension I still have the piggy and I never had the awful row with my Mum. ;)

Hey guys, found a great site called “remote central”!

This guy Tim Jones is my hero. His blog is filled with weird stuff and he always has some cool insights about whatever topic he’s posting about. Below is a bit of his latest post on Stonehenge.

Stonehenge, the Vatican Observatory and the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence

Having paid a quick visit in a previous post to the ongoing restoration work at Silbury Hill, it’s now time to turn our eyes and thoughts once more in the direction of Stonehenge, (map) about which archaeologist Dennis Price has recently penned a new article, which as we will see, marks something of a departure from his recent discussions regarding Pytheas of Massilia and Vespasian’s Camp. This from the introductory paragraphs, amongst which the question regarding possible uses for Stonehenge is raised…

All the evidence suggests that Stonehenge was in active use as a temple of Apollo when Pytheas saw the place in 350 BC, which is remarkable when we consider that from the standard archaeological viewpoint, it had fallen into disuse around thirteen centuries beforehand, in or around 1,600 BC. Be that as it may, it does not follow that Stonehenge had always functioned as a temple, as we can see from the following point made by Professor John North in his book Stonehenge, Neolithic Man and the Cosmos, when discussing the possibility of chariot races having taken place on the Cursus:

“It is hard to see what evidence one could ever find in support of these ideas, but when we consider the matter at all we are forced to acknowledge one important truth; from the fact that a monument was laid out with reference to the heavens it does not of necessity follow that it was always used with that reference in mind. The rituals of foundation are not necessarily the rituals of use.”

So, with this in mind, we return to what must surely be the most frequently asked questions about Stonehenge - what was it used for when it was first built? Is there one way in which we can describe an original function of these mesmerising ruins with confidence? Furthermore, would this be a description that the visionary and engineering geniuses who built Stonehenge would agree with, if we were able to have a conversation with them? In my opinion, the answer is yes.

While we are on the topic of UFO’s…

This is an awesome podcast about Alien abduction. It isn’t what you think. From the show notes: Not our typical show, this time out we talk to Dr. Bridget Brown who doesn’t believe in alien abduction at all but who has some interesting theories on what she believes this phenomena really means to our society.

paranormal alien abduction ? podcast

(I believe it is important to hear all sides of the UFO debate.)

There are other shows to check out as well. Some of my forum buds might want to listen to this remote viewing podcast. More show notes: This program is on the career of Lyn Buchanan - an expert in the field of remote viewing. Lyn tells of his fascinating experiences as both a civilian and as a soldier who implemented remote viewing for the US military.

You can visit Lyn’s website at www.crviewer.com and he also mentions his upcoming involvement with the 2007 Remote Viewing Conference. You can check that out at irvaconference.org

The Kecksburg UFO Crash

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

I found the following on the UFOcasebook.com.

What exactly soared through the late afternoon skies of Canada, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania on December 5, 1965? Eye witnesses described the unknown object as a “fireball,” but it seemed to be under some type of intelligent control, as it veered somewhat in Ohio toward the Quaker State. One of the first official reports of that day came from Frances Kalp, who phoned in her experience to radio station WHJB in Greensburg at 6:30 P.M. She related seeing a fiery object crash into a wooded area near her home in Westmoreland County. Kalp and her children had approached the site within a half-mile, and there they saw an odd object resembling a “four-pointed star.” Radio station employee John Murphy immediately phoned in the report to the Pennsylvania State Police Department. The Police phoned Kalp and arranged to meet her in Kecksburg.

Murphy also raced to the site of the alleged crash. He interviewed Kalp and her children for his report, while the State Police searched the woods for the crashed object. Murphy eagerly awaited the return of the searchers. When they finally completed their search, Murphy was unable to get any clear information from either Carl Metz or Paul Shipco, who headed the search. They only stated that they were calling in the Military to handle the case. Undaunted, Murphy made phone contact with Captain Dussia at State Police Headquarters in Greensburg. Murphy was instructed to visit the office to receive an official statement on the search party results. Upon arriving at headquarters, Murphy noticed that the Military had already arrived in force. Murphy was startled when he received the “official” statement;

“The Pennsylvania State Police have made a thorough search of the woods. We are convinced that there is nothing whatsoever in the woods.”

Keith brought up this topic on the forums. He included a link to an article in Yahoo News stating that NASA is going to search it’s files once again for the missing documents pertaining to this case. Very interesting.  If you would like to discuss this and any other topic on this site, please find your way to the forums and say hi.  Thanks, Keith! :)

This photo freaks me out!

Friday, October 26th, 2007

As some of you know, Omen and Omen II are two of my favorite scary movies. I have seen them so many times and still I get freaked out by Damien Thorn. I stumbled across this photo and an interesting bit about the photo. Reminds me of the Yigael’s Wall scene with Bugenhagen!

This photograph of a creature resembling Satan was photographed by a friend of Paul Schroeder’s wife while vacationing in the Middle East. Mrs. Schroeder’s friend claims to have photographed an object of light in a cave, and did not see this creature until after the film was developed.

There is a “ghost” image somewhere in this photo.  Boo!

Daniel Dunglas Home

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Hey I just ran across this article about Daniel Dunglas Home on experiencefestival.com. The page on Psychic Mediums is great. There’s even an article on Psychic Surgery! I’m a believer, but I don’t know about the surgery. :(

Daniel Dunglas Home (Born in Scotland, 1833 - 1886) Physical Medium

Born on March 20, 1833, in Edinburgh, Scotland, Daniel Dunglas Home was perhaps one of the most amazing physical mediums of the nineteenth century. Daniel and his family moved to America in 1842. After losing his mother in 1850, he went to stay with his aunt.

It was while still in his teens that the strange phenomena started. Furniture moved and noises were heard in the house. His aunt called in ministers to rid him of the “curse,” but they instead informed him he was gifted by God to do this work. He then turned his hand to giving séances. Most were held in broad daylight so as not to feed any skeptics. At these meetings knocking noises were heard, and the table would vibrate, tilt or rise from the floor. This was followed by any number of unexplainable phenomena such as furniture or people levitating, or musical instruments materializing and playing by themselves. Hands would appear and begin writing on pieces of paper.

In 1852, Home first began to levitate himself, and this is something he was to become renowned for. In 1855 he returned to England. His reputation preceded him, and Home once again began to demonstrate his extraordinary gifts. Many accused of him fraud because of the many unbelievable events that occurred at his séances, but he was never found guilty. Reports of tables lifting so high that he was able to walk under them and other such accounts were also documented.

Home was also tested by noted scientist Sir William Crookes, who after conducting a series laboratory condition tests concluded that his gifts were genuine. Home eventually retired from séance work in 1873, as his health was failing. He died of tuberculosis in June of 1886.

Skeptics might argue that any of Home’s gifts were simply the work of a superb illusionist. It should be noted, however, that he was never found guilty of any fraudulent act. Indeed, even Harry Houdini, who had explained away many fraudulent mediums’ claims, could not replicate any of Home’s more amazing feats.

Ghost Cam seems stuck!

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

My fellow “weirdo”, Olivia, pointed out that Ghost Cam doesn’t appear to be changing. So, I just hung out there and discovered she is way right.  It is NOT moving or changing or anything. So, I think I may have found another source for our ghost hunting needs. I just registered and I’m waiting for my approval to AsylumCam.com!

My BFF really was Joan of Arc

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Okay, I have never been the type that pretended to be historical characters when I was a kid. It seemed silly to me, (I was more of a “let’s levitate Nanny” type) but not to my best friend forever Sharon. Sharon would skip out on playing with my Ouija Board to go home and pretend to be Joan of Arc. I know she sounds bonkers. Trust me, she isn’t. When I was little I just thought Sharon loved all the stories about Joan. I really didn’t know too much about Joan of Arc and I honestly didn’t pay too much attention to all this, until recently. Sharon’s Mum and Dad went to the States to visit her brother and Sharon came to stay with my family for a week. Of course we had a great time! I think it was the third or fourth night when Sharon sat on the end of my bed and told me she was Joan of Arc in a previous life. I had a laugh for a moment and then saw the look in her eyes. She was dead on serious. Sharon went on to tell me that ever since she was a baby, she has had flashes of memories of her previous life. She had no idea what any of it meant until she rented the dvd of Joan of Arc (the movie with Leelee Sobieski). Sharon said it was like she was watching her life. The next night we ran out and rented the dvd and Sharon told me all about everything she could remember from her previous life. She also pointed out a few things in the movie that were just not true. After that I knew Sharon was telling the truth. She was Joan of Arc. I’m so glad she has had another chance to live again. Seemed like her first life was really, really hard.
