The journey!

I found this on astraltraveler.com.

In our present times, the term Astral Projection is often confused with many other kinds of “projections.” It’s understandable because nobody classified projections under a single group. If we literally try to analyze this term, then the word “astral” derives from the Latin word astralis, meaning ‘resembling the stars’. You could say that a person conducting an astral projection is basically a star traveler. So, when people mention Astral Projection, what does it really mean?

Since projections are variations of teleportation, we could say that an astral projection is the most basic form of teleportation. In simple terms, Astral Projections or as some call them, Out of Body Experiences (OBEs), are the experiences in which a person seems to leave his/her body and to observe the world from a point of view other than that which he would have were he is still ‘in’ his/her body.

This video might seem sort of goofy to some. You guys know how I feel about Astral Projection. Maybe I’m just being my weird self but I really feel this can be done! :)

(I will admit the lady’s voice could induce sleep and or laughter. My friend Sharon is listening to it right now and laughing hysterically.)

While searching for a good Astral Projection video…

I came upon this Shirley MacLaine interview. She’s the actress/writer/astral projectionist that wrote that book I read. I’m posting it because I’m quite certain many think of her as “weird” and thought she would feel at home here on my blog. I like some of what she says about each of us having our own reality. There is also a bit about her out there that claims she’s “reptilian“. She does look a little lizard-like! :) I pointed this out to my Mum and she laughed and told me that Shirley only looks this way because she’s had one too many face lifts.

Gran’s Photo

Check out the photograph I found in Gran’s box. I’m not going to say anything about it other than I think it is very strange and WEIRD that my Gran would have a cowboy photo.

OOBE! (Let’s add this to the astral projection mix.)

(I found this cartoon on www.CartoonStock.com.)

From wikipedia:

An out-of-body experience (OBE or sometimes OOBE), is an experience that typically involves a sensation of floating outside of one’s body and, in some cases, perceiving one’s physical body from a place outside one’s body (autoscopy). About one in ten people has had an out-of-body experience at some time in their lives. Scientists know little about the phenomenon.[1] OBEs are often part of the near-death experience, and reportedly may also lead to astral projection. It is claimed that OBErs sometimes observe details during an OBE which were unknown to them beforehand.[2]

In some cases the phenomenon appears to occur spontaneously; in others it is associated with a physical or mental trauma, use of psychedelic drugs, or a dream-like state. It is possible to induce the experience deliberately, for example through visualization while in a relaxed, meditative state. Recent (2007) studies have shown that experiences somewhat similar to OBEs can be induced by direct brain stimulation. Relatively little is known for sure about OBEs.[1] Some of those who experience OBEs may have willed themselves out of their bodies, while others found themselves being pulled from their bodies (usually preceded by a feeling of paralysis). In other accounts, the feeling of being outside the body was suddenly realized after the fact, and the experiencer saw their own bodies almost by accident.

More on Spirits and Astral Projection

Look at what I found on Crystalinks!

This article is great because it includes a bit of a “how to”.

(This also really supports the idea about my Gran and Astral Projection and the spirit world that I wrote about yesterday.) :)

Reality is created by thought projection (consciousness) into the physical. There are 5 subtle bodies In astral projection the conscious mind leaves the physical body and moves into the astral body to experience. In astral projection you remain attached to your physical body by a ’silver umbilical type cord’. Some people are able to see the cord when astral projecting. To astral project, as with all out-of-body experiences, one must feel totally relaxed, clothing fitting comfortable, reclining is best. Often a comforter is best over the body as the physical body sometimes gets cold when you travel out.

When you astral project you are consciously aware of things you encounter while out of your physical body.

Some people can astral project naturally. Others are afraid to remove their consciousness from the physical body and never learn to astral project.

Astral projection (or astral travel) is an out-of-body experience achieved either awake or via lucid dreaming or deep meditation. People who say they experience astral projection often say that their spirit or astral body has left their physical body and moves in another dimension known as the spirit world or astral plane. The concept of astral projection has been around and practiced for thousands of years, dating back to ancient China. It is currently often associated with the New Age movement.

Psychics often say that the subconscious (or dreaming) mind contains the spirit or astral body, resulting in falling dreams or waking up with a falling sensation or sudden jerk. Most dreams are not remembered by the conscious mind, making the experience of astral projection a subject of subjectivity. Believers in astral projection point out, though, that most ghost sightings often define the ghost as a lucid or transparent apparition walking the earth.

It is unclear whether every physical object has an ‘astral’ counterpart, or if a spirit literally uses incarnation into a physical body and this is what results in astral projections, or if the phenomena is something else entirely. Astral projection also touches on life itself and what happens after physical death.

Gran saved my life today.

The photo above is from Ghosts in the Cemetery.
As most of you know I have recently experienced a little bit of a “haunting” from my Gran (I think) via her mechanical piggy bank. Well, today something else happened. I was just now walking home from school and felt a hand on my shoulder. When I stopped and turned to see who was touching me, a car flew by me. It was only inches away from me! If I had not stopped I would have surely been killed or at the least been in hospital with multiple injuries! And who was it that stopped me? I have no idea! When I turned around there was no one in sight! The closest human being was across the street! I just called Sharon and told her about this event. She believes it is my subconscious mind kicking in and sensing the danger and so it is basically me saving me. I say it’s Gran. With this in mind I am combing over some of the links that Plotner sent to me about “visitations” and found this interesting blog about the spirit world. The reason I’m posting this is because I feel it ties together two ideas that we’ve been discussing on my blog and on the forum. (Astral Projecting & Paranormal activity) How about this idea? What if we sort of astral project all the time to the spirit world when we sleep? And what if that is what the “spirits” are doing when they come to visit us here in this dimension? I love this idea! Below is a sample from Experience Festival dot com about visiting the spirit world. Thanks for this link, Plotner! :)

Every night while most of us sleep, our spirits separate from the earthly confines and visit the Spirit world. We often experience that visitation through dreams. Sometimes, those dreams are colored by our fears, cares, and concerns; sometimes not. Many are the people who claim they have visited departed loved ones in their dreams. The skeptic will say that such experiences result from wishful thinking, but most people know better: these precious experiences are far more than wishful thinking. So, you see, the first thing we have to understand about the Spirit world is that we do not have to die in order to visit this grand place. Furthermore, we can be in touch with our departed loved ones even while on earth.

Helen Duncan?

 Helen Duncan

My entire Saturday was spent reading old letters of my Gran’s. Seems that my Gran was a member of some secret society called the Duncans. I have no idea what this society was or why they existed, but I have found several references to someone named Helen Duncan. Below is a bit about her from Wikipedia.  Cheers! :)

From Wikipedia:

Helen Duncan (November 25, 1897December 6, 1956) was a Scottish medium, best known as the last person to be imprisoned under the British Witchcraft Act of 1735.

Duncan is often referred to as the last person to be convicted of being a witch, but this view is incorrect in two important aspects. Firstly, the Witchcraft Act 1735 under which she was convicted dealt not with witchcraft but with people who falsely claimed to be able to procure spirits. Secondly, there was a subsequent conviction under the act, of Jane Rebecca Yorke of Forest Gate in East Ham later in 1944; York was bound over to keep the peace.

On her release in 1945, Duncan promised to stop conducting seances; however, she was arrested after another one in 1956. She died a short time later. Duncan’s trial almost certainly contributed to the repeal of the Witchcraft Act, which was contained in the Fraudulent Mediums Act 1951 promoted by Walter Monslow, Labour Member of Parliament for Barrow-in-Furness. The campaign to repeal the Act had largely been led by Thomas Brooks, another Labour MP, who was a spiritualist. However, her original conviction still stood, and a campaign to have her posthumously pardoned continues.

The photograph below was stapled to a folder about Helen Duncan.

Human Clock

Have you ever seen the human clock?  It is this very cool website that gives you the time all over the world with photos.  I love this!  It’s like a huge art collective.  Please check it out.  You can see a digital or analog clock.  This is fantastic!

Carnivalia

Monday, November 5th, 2007

I found the myspace page for “Carnivalia” about a month ago and bookmarked it. Of course, like many interesting sites that I bookmark, I completely forgot it existed. For some reason I just woke up with this on my mind and thought I should post it before I forget again. ;) It is a very strange emporium. Proceed with caution.  Below is their website link as well.

A Ghost is a Ghost

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

I found the photo above and the paragraph below over on one my favorite weird haunts, strangenation.

In about 1993, photographer Scott Pearson captured this intriguing image in an old historic hotel in Gawler, South Australia. Scott was on a ghost hunt after his brother, the new owner, complained of strange goings-on during renovations of the 1836 building. He staked out the corridor near the section of the building that had once been used as a morgue. A strange unsettling feeling prompted him to snap a few frames off and this is the result. Read his story here.
